Deschutes Brewery Wins first U.S. Open Beer Championship
(July 16) - The Oregonian - Ten breweries were recognized as the top 10 based on the number of medals earned. Deschutes Brewing of Bend, Oregon won six gold medals and was named Grand National Champion while Sprecher Brewing of Glendale, Wisconsin and the Boston Beer Company each took home five gold medals and finished second and third respectively. U.S. Open Beer Championships - 2009 Winners
(July 19) - Associated Content - The 1st annual U.S. Open Beer Championship was held July 4, 2009, recognizing quality craft beer from around the world. Sponsored by BeerInfo.com, the call for entries came on June 1, with a deadline of June 14. Open to more than 1000 breweries from 30 nations, and accessible to homebrewers from across Canada and the U.S., over 500 winners would rise to the top of 50+ beer categories, from American IPAs to Imperial Stouts, from Schwarzbier to Belgian Lambics. Florida Beer Co. wins multiple medals at US Open Beer Championships
(July 7) - Orlando Sentinel - Florida Beer Co. in Melbourne. The Florida craft brewer won multiple medals in the first U.S. Open Beer Championships. Its Hurricane Reef Caribbean Style Pilsner won a Gold Medal in the Bohemian Pilsner category and Key West Southernmost Wheat won Bronze in the Belgian Witbier Category. Complete Story

Rahr Beer Wins Big at US Open Beer Tasting Competition
(July 7) - Fort Worth - We’ve just heard from our friends at Rahr Brewery in the Near Southside that they’ve scored some big wins at the US Open Beer Tasting Competition. Blind Salamander won the Gold in English-Style Pale Ale, Ugly Pug won Silver in German Schwartz Beer, and Blonde won Bronze in Munich-Style Helles Lager. 2009 U.S. Open Beer Championship results
(August 19) - The Thirsty Beagle - Right here is a list of winners from the recent U.S. Open Beer Championship in Atlanta. Plenty of familiar names on the list, several I agree with, a couple I whole-heartedly disagree with (read: Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier). Scrolling through the list is not a bad way to pass a few minutes. A competition for everyone(July 7) - Draft Magazine - Officials announced the winners of the United States Open Beer Championship, a competition featuring over 1,000 brewers and 29 home brewers. Sixty-two individual breweries won at least one medal, and 14 won two medals or more. Phil Ferrall of Cumming, GA was the only homebrewer to win a gold medal with his The Next to Last King of Scotland Ale, which won the Strong Scotch Ale category. Complete Story

Steelback Brewery WINS Medal in United States Open Beer Championship(July 6) - Ontario, Canada - Steelback Brewery announces their most recent medal win at the United States Open Beer Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. Steelback’s Tiverton Dark won the Bronze Medal in the Munchner Dunkel beer category.

2009 US Beer Championships Winners Announced July 4(March 31) - AC Associated Content - "There is a strong interest from beer drinkers and home brewers to see a beer competition that includes all beers, including the best of those crafted at megabreweries, microbreweries, brewpubs, as well as homebrews.
